  Roulette Basics

The first thing you notice when you enter a casino is the slot machines and the roulette game. The roulette table, may seem to be a confusing one, but the game itself is very easy to understand and play.

The american roulette has 36 numbers plus a 0 and a 00. The european roulette has 36 numbers and a 0. Next to the layout is the roulette wheel, which is divided into 38 slots for the ball to land, and is numbered 1 through 36 and 0 and 00. You can bet on any single number (straight up), a combination of numbers, or red or black, odd or even.

The game begins with the dealer's spin and the dealer spin the wheel and rolls a ball into the inner slot of the roulette wheel. The ball falls into a number and the person who made a bet for that number is declared the winner. In an hour, there are about 60-80 spins of the roulette wheel.

Roulette Chips
Regular chips are not usually used for roulette. Instead, the player is given special roulette chips when he places a bet. Its a rule of the house that even if its a husband and wife, they are supposed to have seperate colored chips to avoid disputes.

Since the roulette chips are very different than the others in the , you cannot cash them out at the cashier's counter. The dealer of the table will exchange the chips for regular casino chips once you are out of the game. So be sure to get your regular chips if you are about to leave the table.
